About Cecily:

I’m Cecily, a full-time vocalist, performer, recording artist, and voice teacher! I have been teaching for 10 years and feel great joy helping students deepen their understanding and love of their instrument, using my knowledge of the voice, combined with my experience as a professional singer.

I am attentive and offer gentle encouragement. I always start by helping students understand their body as their instrument and what it should feel like to do things in a healthy and free way. I like to slowly and mindfully push students out of their comfort zone, so they can grow and evolve.

I am certified in Levels I & II of Somatic Voicework, a functional voice training method. I’ve also taken courses at Shenandoah University’s Vocal Pedagogy Institute!

Singing For Healing Workshop

About The Program:

Singing is a powerful healing practice that allows anyone to use breath and vibration to relax, release emotions, and be at peace.

In this workshop participants will learn different ways to use breathing and vocalizing to release stress, increase body awareness, detach from overthinking, and connect with the community.

Meditation and breathing exercises will be used to quiet the mind and bring participants into a conversation with their bodies. Vocal warm-ups will be used to release tension and stress. Lastly, group singing will be used to build trust within the group, release endorphins and let go of judgment of self and others.

Program Objective:

The participants will leave with tools they can use to reduce stress and be more mindful of their bodies everyday. Participants will also leave feeling more connected with the group and more relaxed. Participants should also leave knowing that singing is not only for those with “good voices,” but is a powerful gift every person has access to through their own body.
