Bethesda Blues and Jazz teams up with Daryl Davis Presents to honor Black History Month with a presentation of some of the most legendary and soulful music artists in the world who were born or lived in WASHINGTON DC, “Chocolate City.” Critically acclaimed vocalist, Cecily will perform songs by Chocolate City dwellers such as Duke Ellington, Marvin Gaye, Roberta Flack, Donny Hathaway, Patsy Cline, The Clovers, Gil Scott-Heron and many others. Cecily will be joined by the ever soulful & brilliant Kenny Wesley for some unforgettable duets! Kenny is a songwriter, pianist, vocalist with a range spanning more than four octaves, and a linguist who speaks five languages. His name is Kenny Wesley. With three acclaimed projects, numerous accolades, collaborations, compilation features, and high-profile performances under his belt, including a win as a finalist as the USA representative for the 2013 Montreux Jazz Festival’s Shure Vocal Competition, Kenny has firmly placed his stamp on the burgeoning modern music movement. His songs, fusing elements of electronic, jazz, funk, classical, folk and gospel, have been prominently featured on radio, film and TV – including the FOX series So You Think You Can Dance. He has shared the stage with numerous artists: Kurt Elling, Sheila Jordan, Rachelle Ferrell, Maysa, Klazz Brothers, Vinx, et al. Hot off the heels of a hugely successful debut, Anacostia Arts Center proudly presents another FREE musical season of ALL THE WAY LIVE TUESDAYS! With a varied line up of hip-hop, R&B, funk, soul and more, this series exemplifies the vibrant creative economy of DMV talent. In the words of legendary singer Patti Austin, “[Cecily is] a brilliant, beautiful, and talented young lady—look out!” Cecily is a powerhouse vocalist and sensitive songwriter, studying voice for more than 10 years and graduating from Swarthmore College. With a passion for soul, jazz, and ’90s R&B, Cecily has entertained audiences up and down the East Coast with her impassioned live performances. Her voice has been compared to vocalists such as Brandy and Corinne Bailey Rae.

Album Release Concert
Cecily celebrates the release of her album "Grow" at her debut concert as an Artist in Residence at the Strathmore.
Vocalist Cecily leads this free workshop which explores the healing capabilities of singing. By getting in touch with your breath and the vibrations moving through your body, you have a unique opportunity to strengthen awareness of your body and emotions. Through breathing and vocal exercises, improvisation, and group singing, participants learn tools for healing that can be both meditative and energizing. This workshop is intended for those with an interest in singing, however all levels of singing experience are welcome.

As a 2018 Strathmore Artist-in-Residence, Cecily will join her fellow classmates for "Fresh AIR," an evening of cross-genre collaboration featuring all 6 Artists-in-Residence and our mentors.
Cecily performs an evening of music and storytelling dedicated to Washington, DC and its musical contributions to the world. Enjoy music by Duke Ellington, Gil Scott- Heron, Roberta Flack, Me’shell Ndegeocello, and more. Followed by a panel discussion on the arts & gentrification in DC.
Join us as we come together for a swinging celebration of dance and music, featuring Strathmore Artists in Residence performing works by Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, and Ella Fitzgerald. Proceeds from Cabaret benefit Strathmore’s Artist in Residence program, High School Summer Intensive, Strathmore Children’s Chorus, and Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras. Through these vibrant programs, Strathmore stewards the artistic and professional development of more than 700 young artists every year.
Cecily will be performing during The Wharf's Kickoff Celebration Weekend. This event is free and all-ages. This performance will be on the Sutton Square Stage from 4PM - 5PM.

The Prince George's Black Arts Festival celebrates Black women and women-identifying artists throughout the Diaspora; beauty standards, identity, multi-generational traditions, sisterhood, and breaks barriers. The festival will be a 1 day event featuring a full day of musical performances, a film screening, panel discussions, and an artist market. In addition, we will premiere 2 art exhibitions: “This Hair Deserves a March” and “Like Blood from a Stone”. Come join us for a night of live performances, art, vendors, food, and dancing. Cecily is honored to be performing at the VI Mompox Jazz Festival in Mompox, Columbia along with her band Zachary Cutler, Eliot Seppa, Joe Herrera, and Tyler Leak.
Cecily is honored to have been chosen by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities to be a featured performer at the 32nd Annual Mayor's Arts Awards, hosted at the historic Lincoln Theater.
Cecily will be performing at the Arena Stage Theater's community day & open house. This season the theater will be showing "NINA SIMONE: FOUR WOMEN." Cecily's performance on community day will also honor Nina Simone. Also featuring live music by 3 bands, dance performances, face painting, food, and a costume sale. This event is free and family-friendly.
